ARGO

Argo is a 57ft Trad Tug style narrowboat built in 2005 by Orion, offering a beautifully crafted and characterful vessel with a traditional layout and high-quality fit out throughout. Propulsion is provided by a highly desirable Gardner 2LW diesel engine (1962) paired with shaft drive, delivering the unmistakable character and reliability these classic engines are renowned for. Finished with a professional exterior repaint completed in 2023 and benefitting from a superior internal fit out, Argo is equally suited to leisure cruising or comfortable liveaboard use.

Entering from the traditional stern, the boat opens into a well-presented master bedroom, benefitting from a Premier solid fuel stove, creating a warm and cosy cabin space. Traditional brass features are found throughout the boat and have been exceptionally well maintained, adding to the classic character and presentation onboard. The fit out throughout features painted strip pine roofing, veneered plywood with solid wood framing, attractive beech furnishings, and solid oak flooring.

Moving forward, the layout leads through into the dedicated engine room, housing the impressive Gardner 2LW installation and maintaining the traditional character expected of a tug-style narrowboat.

The bathroom follows, fitted with a Thetford C200 cassette toilet and a quadrant shower, presented in keeping with the boat’s high-quality finish.

The galley is fitted with a Caprice 2040 four-burner gas hob, oven and grill, alongside a Shoreline under-counter fridge and Hotpoint washer/dryer machine, creating a practical and well-equipped onboard cooking and utility space. Hardwood finishes and practical storage continue throughout the galley area.

At the bow, the boat opens into a comfortable and welcoming saloon, providing a bright living area ideal for relaxing or entertaining while aboard.

Argo benefits from a strong onboard electrical specification including shore power, a Victron Phoenix MultiPlus 3000w inverter/charger, and a battery bank comprising two engine start batteries and three domestic batteries. She also benefits from four Flexi Star solar panels paired with an MPPT controller, supporting efficient off-grid capability. Heating is supplied via a Lockgate diesel stove in the main cabin, supported by the solid fuel stove in the bedroom. Hot water is provided through a calorifier via immersion and engine.

The hull and superstructure are constructed in steel, with the hull last blacked in 2025. The hull is considered solid, and pictures of the boat out of the water are available on request. Additional external features include two dog boxes with covers, four side hatches, and professionally completed paintwork externally. The boat also benefits from a current Boat Safety Certificate onboard.
