FLEUR

DESCRIPTION

Fleur is a 45ft Traditional Stern Tug Style Narrowbeam, built in 1992 by Black Country Narrowboats. Propulsion is provided by a well-maintained Kingfisher 14hp diesel engine, paired with an MA100 gearbox, making Fleur a reliable and economical narrowboat, well suited to both leisure cruising and comfortable liveaboard use.

Entering through the engine room, the engine is housed beneath removable pine flooring, allowing excellent access for servicing and maintenance. The engine has been consistently cared for, with oil and filters last changed in August 2024, and manuals for both the engine and gearbox are included.

Following on from the engine room is the bedroom, featuring an extendable double bed, currently set up to king size, with generous storage beneath. Above the bed is a refurbished pigeon box with attractive timber detailing and brass stays. A radiator fed from the stove via a gravity system provides efficient and quiet heating to this space.

Next is the tiled shower room, fitted with a stand-up shower, vanity basin, and porta-potty WC. Hot water is supplied via a Morco D-61B instant gas water heater, meaning hot showers are available without the need to run the engine. There is excellent cupboard storage throughout this area.

The galley is well equipped with a Vanette gas hob and grill, oven, 12v fridge, and ample worktop and cupboard space, making it practical for extended cruising or living aboard.

Forward of the galley is the cosy saloon, which features a Morso 1410 multi-fuel stove with a bespoke copper fire surround and ceiling flue entry. Seating is provided by two original narrowboat armchairs, both of which convert into single berths, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. Hardwood bow doors lead out onto the front deck, providing useful outdoor space with additional storage beneath.

Important features to note begin with the original T&G yellow pine lining, which has been very well maintained and tastefully decorated throughout.

Fleur benefits from new Rockwool insulation (2021), contributing to her reputation as a warm and comfortable boat. The interior includes six brass portholes, bespoke removable pine liners, solid pine internal doors, and professionally joiner-made Iroko bow doors, side hatch, and engine room liners.

The most recent hull blacking was carried out in May 2024, with anodes in good condition. A hull survey from 2021 reported a clean bill of health with no welding required. Fleur holds a Boat Safety Certificate valid until December 2028, which is transferable upon purchase. The brass portholes, and features were all professionally cleaned in 2011. They have not needed to be re-done since. There is a gas locker at the nose of the Tug boat which has been modified to fit a a large 13kg gas canister inside it, a inventive addition not usually found of tugs.

The electrical system includes two leisure batteries replaced in November 2023, a Sterling shoreline battery charger, Sterling Pro Split R unit, and a 150W solar panel with Victron MPPT controller, providing strong off-grid capability.

Externally, Fleur was professionally repainted and signwritten in 2019, with spare paints included in the sale. A 7ft cratch with motion-sensor lighting is fitted, along with extensive cruising equipment and accessories.
