DESCRIPTION
James Henry is a historic rivetted iron traditional stern Bridgewater Canal narrowboat built in 1887 by Thomas Bantock & Co. She is a steel cabin constructed in 1983 and features a huge traditional layout, is beautifully decorated, and is well maintained. Propulsion is by a classic Nanni diesel engine. Please see below the story of James Henry by its owners.
Upon entering from the stern into the traditional boatman's cabin, she boasts ample storage. There is a small double bed and features a boatman stove. Moving on from the back of the boat, and into the engine room, she features a Nanni diesel engine, a Whisper Power generator, a Mastervolt inverter battery charger, and a Whisper Power water cooling exhaust separator. There are two large side hatches on the port and starboard side of the cabin. Next are living quarters, the galley and the dining room are in the center of the boat. A Sandyford & Marshall Cooker is the hub of all heating, hot water, and cooking onboard the boat. This is kerosene-fed as there is no gas fitted to the vessel, making her more affordable and efficient. To the right of the entry is the bathroom that is fitted with a pump-out toilet, a large shower with attachments, a small bath, with a vanity basin, and floor-to-ceiling storage. To finish from the left of the center entry is the large saloon. She is beautifully finished, complete with furniture, a TV, and an ariel. Hardwood flooring is throughout and there is a light and airy feel onboard the boat considering her traditional features.
