MEANDERIST

Meanderist is a beautifully crafted 57ft traditional stern narrowboat built in 2010 by Paul Widdowson, with a quality fit-out by Witham Narrowboats. Combining traditional styling with modern comforts, she offers an exceptional standard of craftsmanship throughout, making her an ideal choice for both extended cruising and comfortable liveaboard use. Propulsion is provided by a Vetus M417K four-cylinder diesel engine with shaft drive, delivering dependable and proven performance on the inland waterways.

Entering from the traditional stern, the boat follows a classic layout designed to maximise comfort and practicality. Accommodation is centred around a cross-over double bed, providing a spacious sleeping area while maintaining excellent use of the cabin space.

Moving forward, the bathroom is fitted with a Thetford cassette toilet, shower, and vanity basin, offering practical facilities finished to the same high standard found throughout the boat.

The galley is well equipped for extended cruising, featuring an integrated four-burner hob and cooker, 12v fridge, washing machine, and microwave. Generous worktop space and ample storage make this a highly functional area for day-to-day living aboard.

Towards the bow, the saloon provides a warm and inviting living space, featuring a Pullmans dinette that converts into an additional double berth, together with a swivel narrowboat chair, creating a comfortable area for dining, relaxing, or entertaining guests.

Throughout the boat, the interior showcases beautiful hardwood oak joinery, traditional tongue-and-groove styling, and exceptional attention to detail. The quality of craftsmanship is evident throughout, creating a timeless interior that is both elegant and welcoming, while generous storage has been incorporated throughout the boat.

Meanderist benefits from an excellent electrical specification, including shore power, full 12v and 230v electrical systems, a Sterling Pro Combi S 2.5kW inverter/charger, and a battery bank comprising one starter battery and four 110Ah domestic lead-acid batteries. Off-grid capability is further enhanced by a 495W solar installationconsisting of three rigid solar panels with a dedicated solar controller.

Heating is provided by an Eberspächer diesel-fired central heating system, complemented by a solid fuel stove, ensuring the boat remains warm and comfortable throughout the seasons. Hot water is supplied through the onboard calorifier.

The boat benefits from a current Boat Safety Certificate (expiry available upon request), was last surveyed in 2019, and had the hull professionally blacked in 2025, demonstrating the continued care and maintenance she has received.

Moored at Sale Cruising Club, Manchester, Meanderist is currently located on a private cruising club mooring. Applications for club membership can be made in advance and, subject to a successful application and acceptance by the club, the mooring may be available to the new owner—offering an excellent opportunity for those wishing to remain at this well-regarded cruising club.
