ORA

Ora is a steel narrowboat built by Colecraft around 1982, measuring approximately 38ft 8in in length and 6ft 10in in beam. Finished in an ivory and sage colour scheme, she presents an opportunity for someone looking to take on a restoration project and develop the interior to their own requirements.

The exterior features a cruiser-style stern, with a conventional steel superstructure, side decks and a forward well deck. Her compact size makes Ora an interesting prospect for someone seeking a shorter narrowboat project.

Power is provided by an Isuzu 37hp diesel engine, connected to a conventional shaft drive. The survey report records the engine space being grit-blasted and repainted during the works undertaken at the time of docking.

A marine survey carried out in December 2022, with a follow-up in July 2024, documents a programme of hull and steelwork repairs. These included grit-blasting and epoxy coating the hull, welding areas of hull-side pitting, cleaning and painting the internal base plate, and installing a new front deck incorporating an integral water tank. The report also records replacement of the fuel tank, additional anodes, work to the rudder and an extended weedhatch.

Ora should be viewed as a restoration project rather than a finished, ready-to-cruise boat. The photographs show areas of interior work still to be completed, offering scope for a new owner to progress the fit-out according to their plans. The precise extent of work remaining should be established during viewing.

The survey report also recorded that some windows required repair and that the superstructure needed to be made weathertight at that time. Prospective buyers should confirm the current condition and the status of any subsequent work, together with the relevant certification and documentation.
