SILVER BIRCH

Silver Birch is a 65ft narrowboat built in 2006 by Price Fallows Ltd and fitted out by Maestermyn Marine, offering a spacious and practical layout originally designed for hire use on the Llangollen Canal. With accommodation for up to 6 berths, she presents a versatile option for family cruising or extended time aboard. Propulsion is provided by a 42hp Isuzu diesel engine paired with a PRM 150 gearbox and shaft drive, offering a reliable and proven setup that has been well maintained, with no reported issues and low engine usage between servicing intervals.

Entering from the bow, the layout begins with a sociable foredeck seating area, leading into a dinette which can also provide an additional berth if required. The galley follows, fitted with a fridge, microwave, sink, and hardwood worktops, alongside ample cupboard and shelving space for practical onboard living.

Moving aft, the boat is arranged with multiple sleeping cabins, including two fixed double bed cabins and an additional single/double berth cabin, allowing flexible accommodation for families or guests. There are two bathroom compartments, both fitted with wash basins and pump-out toilets, with one also benefitting from a thermostatically controlled shower.

Silver Birch is well equipped electrically, featuring a Sterling 1.8kW inverter, battery setup comprising one starter and three domestic batteries, and charging via twin alternators and four solar panels, providing dependable onboard power and improved off-grid capability. Interior lighting is a mix of 12v LED and fluorescent, with 240v sockets fitted throughout.

Heating is provided by a Webasto diesel heating system, supported by engine-generated hot water via a calorifier, supplying the galley, basins, and shower. Gas is supplied via two Calor bottles housed in the bow locker, fuelling the cooker, with the system having been professionally inspected.

The boat has benefitted from extensive maintenance and investment. In 2018, following a full survey, significant works were undertaken including grit blasting and 2-pack epoxy coating to the hull, welding works, new anodes, and mechanical overhauls. More recently, in 2026, the hull was lifted, pressure washed, re-blacked, and areas above the rubbing strake repainted, alongside new deck hatches and internal flooring replacement. The interior has also seen upgrades including a new cooker, fridge, toilet unit, and general refurbishment, resulting in a clean and well-presented finish throughout.

Additional onboard equipment includes TV/DVD player, microwave, full soft furnishings, bedding, crockery, and kitchenware, as well as essential boating accessories such as mooring lines, poles, life rings, life jackets, and safety equipment including fire extinguishers, smoke alarm, and CO alarm.

Silver Birch has a strong maintenance history from 2018 onwards, with records of works carried out and regular servicing. She has previously passed Boat Safety inspections in 2018 and 2022, with a new Boat Safety Certificate currently being arranged.

The boat is currently moored at Stockton Lane, Grappenhall, Warrington.
